The iGo brand is an outlier among consumer-direct e-bike brands. Their lineup boasts nine different models available either direct or through their dealer network, which boasts roughly two dozen different dealers around the US. Three more models are no longer available through the website, but may be available at their dealers.
What makes iGo different is their focus. Where the great majority of consumer-direct e-bike brands focus on producing e-bikes that retail for less than $2000, with iGo all of their current models sell for more than $2000. The e-bike market between about $2200 and $3500 can be rather thin on options.
In focusing on a more expensive price tier, iGo is able to ensure that all of their e-bikes are equipped with 8- or 9-speed drivetrains. Roughly half their models come equipped with hub motors while the other half receive the mid-drive motor upgrade. Their city/commuter e-bikes Rosemont and Yorkville are each produced in hub-drive and mid-drive versions.
In addition to those four e-bikes, iGo produces a fifth city e-bike, as well as an all-road model, an eMTB and a fat-tire e-bike. Only two of their e-bikes (the eMTB and the fat-tire model) go for more than $3000. With one exception—their least expensive city e-bike, the Core – Elite 3D—all of their e-bikes come equipped with hydraulic disc brakes and 180mm rotors.
Smartphone integration with the help of an app can enrich a buyer’s experience, lending a degree of user control that can improve a rider’s experience; iGo offers a smartphone app that will allow the rider to tailor some e-bike functions to their needs. The rider looking for an alternative to the typical offerings from consumer-direct e-bike companies will want to take a deeper look at iGo.
