Pedego Electric Bikes is one of the experienced makers of e-bikes in the US. Founded in 2008, their mission “is to be the best electric bikes on earth, not necessarily the biggest.” That may undersell their ambition some. They make 17 different e-bike models, from city/commuter e-bikes to full-suspension eMTBs. Very few brands attempt to market as broad a range of e-bikes as Pedego does.
Pedego’s e-bike lineup begins at roughly $2000 and goes up from there. Shoppers can either visit one of Pedego’s more than 200 authorized dealers around the country or purchase online.
There may not be a more diverse line of e-bikes out there. Sure, Pedego offers the standard fare of commuter/city e-bikes, cruiser and fat-tire models, but they also offer a number of more specialized models. Their Boomerang model offers the lowest standover height of any e-bike we’ve reviewed. They also market a cargo e-bike that will allow parents to tote kids, a trike for anyone with strength or balance issues and a tandem for the couple that wants to stay together when they ride.
They are one of very few companies we’ve seen that make both affordable hub-drive e-bikes and a proper full suspension eMTB with a mid-drive motor and a 12-speed drivetrain. Pedego is unusual among e-bike brands thanks to the opportunity to purchase refurbished e-bikes; all certified used e-bikes go through an 18-point inspection, receive a professional tuneup and are covered by a 12-month warranty.
Buyers looking for a brand that provides good support to their owners will be reassured by Pedego’s five-year warranty and the ability to get their e-bike serviced at an authorized Pedego dealer.
