QuietKat Jeep review: Intro
If ever there was to be an e-bike worthy of the Jeep monicker, this is it. Few e-bikes enjoy this much power and are as well prepared for going off -road as the QuietKat Jeep. This is one of the most powerful all-terrain e-bikes we’ve encountered. Whether the terrain is steep or loose, the QuietKat Jeep has the controlled power, traction and gearing necessary to go up, down, over and through.
This is an e-bike that is ideal for hunters or anglers looking to head to the middle of nowhere to bag dinner (or perhaps many dinners). This is an e-bike well-suited to pulling a trailer laden with catch. In our QuietKat Jeep review we will take a look at what separates this e-bike from other all-terrain e-bikes as well as what makes it deserving of the Jeep brand name.
The single most defining feature of this e-bike isn’t the fact that it can be ordered with one of two different motors. No, what’s most noticeable is that the base motor is more powerful than what we see on the great majority of other e-bikes. This is an e-bike meant to go wherever its rider points the front wheel.

In-Depth QuietKat Jeep Review
QuietKat Jeep Review: Comfort, Handling, and Ride Qualities
The QuietKat Jeep carries the name of this revered brand for obvious reasons: It’s meant to head off road and explore the backcountry. And just as a Jeep is more capable than the typical SUV of ditching the pavement heading for the middle of nowhere, the QuietKat Jeep can handle terrain that many all-terrain e-bikes would struggle to conquer.
Key to this bike’s success are its suspension, tires and drivetrain. We are accustomed to seeing all-terrain e-bikes with full suspension, but the manufacturer rarely details front and rear travel, which is crucial to learning just how capable the e-bike is. Less information equates to less capable. In the case of the QuietKat Jeep, the 150mm travel RockShox fork and the 140mm QK shock will work double-duty, keeping the wheels connected to the ground for terrific traction while also cushioning the rider and making the bike easier to control on uneven terrain. The CST 26 x 4.8-in.-wide fat tires feature a knobby design that will keep the bike hooked up even in tight turns.
The frame geometry for the QuietKat Jeep is surprisingly modern. The e-bike is designed to put the rider in a well-balanced position while offering calm handling without sacrificing maneuverability. This is a better-designed e-bike than many we see in the all terrain category.
Getting the most out of this e-bike means paying a local shop to assemble it, adjust the saddle height and reach for the rider and then setting the suspension to the rider’s weight. These steps require a bit of know-how—hence the need for a knowledgeable shop—but enlisting some expertise will make riding this e-bike far more enjoyable. Once the suspension is properly adjusted, the bike will feel more comfortable, corner better and allow the rider to go downhill with more confidence.
Among the many options that QuietKat offers for the Jeep is a package that upgrades the wheels from 26-in. to 29-in. This is an easy one to endorse as larger wheels roll more easily over uneven terrain. The larger wheels will roll more quickly and increase the e-bike’s stability, especially at speed.
QuietKat Jeep Review: Motor, Battery, and Drivetrain Performance
Mid-drive motor-equipped e-bikes tend to outperform hub motor e-bikes for a variety of reasons. The torque sensor tends to apply power in a manner that is much more proportional to how people actually pedal, adding power when they sense the rider is going hard and dialing back when a rider eases up. And because mid-drive motors place the motor before the drivetrain, the mechanical advantage offered by gears means that a mid-drive motor doesn’t need to be as powerful as most hub motors to achieve performance as good or better than the hub-driven e-bikes. Combining the mechanical advantage of a mid-drive motor with the amount of power we typically see in a hub motor gives the QuietKat Jeep muscle of an order we don’t often see. This is true of the 750W motor; QuietKat also offers an option for a 1000W motor. Think turbo unit.
Whether someone chooses the 750W or 1000W motor, the torque stays the same—160Nm. What this means is that even on ultra-steep terrain, the QuietKat Jeep has the ability to keep the rear wheel turning.
The 696Wh battery seems huge until we consider just how powerful these motors are. Range is listed as 22 to 44 mi., which may seem modest, but off-road, 10 mi. is a long way. Ultimately, this is a great balance between range and the increased weight that comes with a bigger battery. Anyone suffering range anxiety can purchase an extra battery.
The 9-speed SRAM drivetrain not only offers one more cog than we usually see in bikes of this type, the set of gears in the rear offer a broader range of gearing than we often see. As a result, this bike doesn’t have to rely on its power alone to get up hills. That lower gear helps save the battery, increasing its range.
QuietKat Jeep Review: Braking, Safety, Customer Service & Warranty
Of the many touches that demonstrate how well-designed a bike the QuietKat Jeep is, the decision to spec Tektro four-piston hydraulic disc brakes serves as yet another example that this bike’s designers understood the demands that would be placed on the bike. Normal hydraulic disc brakes are built with two pistons (one left, one right) to drive the brake pads against the rotor. With four-piston brakes there are two pistons per side, driving a larger set of brake pads; it makes for much more powerful braking and gives riders the opportunity to brake later and harder prior to turning or stopping.
Safety can be a slippery concept where a powerful e-bike is concerned. An inexperienced rider could get themselves into a dicey situation more easily, but the plentiful power can also allow a rider to cruise up steep hills that might otherwise cause problems. Ultimately safety, and a rider’s sense of safety comes down to control. The more easily and effectively a rider can control their e-bike, the better their sense of safety. Again, we return to the suggestion of taking the QuietKat Jeep to a bike shop for assembly and setup. With the suspension and fit set up for the rider their ability to control the e-bike will be markedly greater than if ridden straight out of the box.
While we don’t have any direct experience with QuietKat’s customer service, the reviews on their website suggest they take care of their customers. Their warranty is a fairly standard one-year or 1000-mi. coverage of all parts and labor, with a lifetime warranty on the frame. This is on par with what we see from the big legacy bike brands like Specialized.
What does set QuietKat apart from many of their competitors is their accident protection plan. Buyers can purchase one, two or three-year coverage for damage to the bike that can come in the normal course of riding. The plans aren’t inexpensive, but for anyone taking this e-bike into the backcountry and riding it like it was intended, the protection plan is a sound investment.
QuietKat Jeep Review: Recommendation/Final Verdict
We are impressed with what we’ve seen after reviewing the QuietKat Jeep. It’s a solid bike that we believe any rider wishing to head for the hinterlands would be served by. Hunters, anglers and anyone else looking to do the classic get-away-from-it-all ride will love the QuietKat Jeep for where it can take them.
We take care to differentiate between e-bikes that are intended for off-road use and those that are proper eMTBs. The QuietKat Jeep is one of the most capable all-terrain e-bikes we’ve encountered, it is not the sort of e-bike to confuse with an eMTB. To use an analogy, we’d compare this favorably with an actual Jeep, while we’d equate an eMTB with a high performance quad runner. Different demands require different technology.
As e-bikes go, this one is pricey, well outside the price range of most other all-terrain e-bikes we encounter. That price is justified by a number of factors, including: the frame and suspension fork, the four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, the 9-speed drivetrain and, of course, the powerful and torquey mid-drive motor. Many riders will pass on bikes in this price range for any number of reasons, but we do think the cost on the QuietKat Jeep is justified.
QuietKat offers several different accessory packages for the Jeep, including ones for hunters and anglers, which further demonstrates their understanding of their prospective buyer. A sportsman equipped with the QuietKat Jeep and a trailer can likely make it out of the woods with their prize, so long as it wasn’t an elk.
